Away

My inlaws took Mya to Mattawa on Sunday. I will be going there on Friday. Since she has been gone, I still have these silly habits. I push food to the back of the counter where she can't reach it. I make sure to close the door tightly so she can't get out. I wait for her to greet me when I come in the door. It's really weird.
My inlaws say that she is doing fine and eating, drinking etc. I wonder if she misses me as much as I miss her?

My Stick Dog

Poor Mya! I don't know how she feels about having no hair, but I am going to love it for the summer. Last year, everytime she went for a swim and ran through the sand, she was a mess and took hours to dry. Then she couldn't get on my bed or in the car when she was like that. This year, my predication is she will have a 15 minute dry time!!!

I love this spot!

This is where Mya likes to lay down and watch everything going on in the back yard. She can see the birds, squirrels, cats etc. I guess it's kind of like her perch!

Things you don't expect!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. We were outside in the front yard until about 8pm. The neighbours were out and the kids were playing in the sprinklers and with water toys. I had Mya on a leash and on our front steps otherwise she would have hogged the sprinkler (or a puddle near it).

A little boy who lives 2 doors over is about 2 years old. He saw Mya and said "Horse"! So his Mom took him over to see her. She asked if Mya was friendly and I said yes. So, the little boy wanted to pet her. Fine. He was being gentle with her, petting her softly, and then....out of the blue, he grabbed the hair on her face and pulled hard and yelled right into her face!!!! Oh my God, I couldn't believe it! I didn't have time to even think! She was face to face with this little guy. Do you know what she did? She licked him!

Lesson learned, no little wee ones anymore. Not unless I know they are used to animals and know how to be GENTLE!

Here we go again!

I am still looking for that perfect picture of Mya. Oh well, better keep trying!

Maybe I want to be a photographer when I grow up???

Hmmmm, maybe not!

That's my girl!

I finally took some still shots of Mya. I was thinking that if I ask her to sit and stay, she does it, so why not try to get her to pose. Well, posing is a different story!!! She doesn't like to look at me when she's sitting, because how can she be watching out to protect me if she's looking at me. We have to work on that!

Just a Pet!

Definition of Pet

  • a domesticated animal kept for companionship or amusement
    darling: a special loved one
  • A pet or companion animal is an animal that is kept by humans for companionship and enjoyment, rather than for economic reasons. The most popular are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics or their beautiful appearance or song.

I have heard over and over by people that if your dog is not a "show dog", it's just a pet.

My pet is my friend, my protector, my son's companion and a family member.

My pet has done agility, obedience, training for pulling and loves to swim and boat.

My pet eats good food, gets brushed every now and then, has endless treats and gets a nice warm bed at night.

My pet goes for walks, goes to the park, runs with other dogs and loves to be petted by strangers.

My pet gets sick, she has someone to comfort her, someone to care for her and someone to love her.

My pet destroys things sometimes!

My pet is my life.

Well, if that's what it means to be "Only a Pet", please tell God that when I come back, I want to be one of those too!

Mya at the 3rd Annual Grand Slam!

I can't thank my father in law enough for helping me bring everything to the park and helping me set up. But more importantly, he takes such good care of Mya for the day. I can't take care of her and try to get other things done, so she's happier with Grandpa that day!
